Congratulations to defending national champion Lindenwood (Mo.) for winning the 2009 team title at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships. With the victory, the Lions win their third consecutive national championship and fifth overall.  Lindenwood finishes the tournament with 167 points.

Southern Oregon finishes in second place with 125.5 points. McKendree (Ill.) is third with 123 points.  Missouri Valley is in fourth with 109.5 points.  Rounding out the top five is Notre Dame (Ohio) with 84 points.

The Championship Finals began with the Parade of All-Americans and Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes followed by the championship matches in each weight class.  The tournament concluded with closing ceremonies and awards presentations.

Three grapplers successfully defended their 2008 individual titles.  Montana State-Northern senior Corey Borges (125 lb.), Lindenwood senior Raymond Stephens (133 lb.) and Lindenwood senior Matt Cauley (174 lb.) each won their Championship Finals matches to retain their titles.

Matt Cauley of Lindenwood was named the 2009 NAIA Most Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament while Lindenwood head coach Joe Parisi was named the 2009 NAIA Wrestling Coach of the Year.
