Marcus Hoehn and Nicholas Marable grabbed individual titles at 141 and 165 pounds as the fifth ranked Tiger wrestling squad finished with 55 points behind co-champions Iowa State and host Nebraska who finished with 70 points.

Hoehn started off his post season by earning his first career Big 12 title in his second conference championships appearance.

Making his second appearance in the 157 pound finals, senior Michael Chandler  finished second falling to third-ranked Jordan Burroughs, 6-4.

Marable became Missouri’s fifth wrestler in program history to win two league titles, capturing the crown at 165 pounds.

Senior Raymond Jordan lost a two point decision, 3-1, to Brandon Browne of Nebraska at 174 pounds.  Browne scored the match winning point in the third period with a takedown at the buzzer.

Second ranked Mark Ellis lost a heart-breaker to No. 1 David Zabriskie of Iowa State.   Earlier in the afternoon 133 pounder Todd Schavrien and 197 pounder Maxwell Askren took third in their respective weight classes.

A total of seven Missouri grapplers (Schavrien, Hoehn, Chandler, Marable, Jordan, Askren and Ellis) have automatically qualified for the 2009 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, which will be held in St. Louis March 19-21.
