3-6 Dennys.jpg Looking to shore up their bullpen and fill that second lefty spot in the bullpen, the Cardinals signed 31 year old Dennys Reyes to a two year contract worth $3 million.

Manager Tony LaRussa told stlcardinals.com , "Every time that we’ve seen him, especially as a specialist, he’s made left-handers look silly…and he can pitch to right-handers."

Trevor Miller who was signed as a free agent from Tampa Bay has the one lefty spot, but the Cardinals were not happy with what they were seeing from Royce Ring, Charlie Manning, Ian Ostlund and Katsuhiko Maekawa early this spring.

Reyes will join the Cardinals after he finishes pitching for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic.  On a side note, how tough will Mexico be if you have Reyes and Royals’ closer Joakim Soria pitching in the late innings?
