Missouri State (11-19) will be the No. 10 seed in the  Missouri Valley Conference Tournament , March 5-8 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. The Bears open the tournament on Thursday at 8:35 p.m. against the No. 7 seeded Wichita State Shockers (15-15). 

The Bears have played in the tournament’s opening round just twice previously, winning as the No. 8 seed in 2001 and the No. 7 seed last season. In their previous 18 years in the league, the Bears have compiled a 23-17 record in the MVC Tournament, reaching the semifinals 13 times, the championship game seven times, and winning the tournament once (1992). 

The Bears are 4-0 all-time in the tournament against Wichita State. 

If the Bears defeat Wichita State on Thursday evening, they would play No. 2 seed Creighton in the quarterfinals on Friday at 6:05 p.m.  The winner of that quarterfinal would play in the 4:05 p.m. semifinal on Saturday for the right to play in Sunday’s nationally-televised 1:05 p.m. championship game.
