SBU Bearcat guard D’Ante Harris has been named MIAA Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 22. It’s the second time this season Harris has earned the award.

Harris, a 6- foot- 3, 185- pound senior from Bossier City, La., averaged 23.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists as the No. 4 Bearcats extended their winning streak to seven games and reclaimed sole possession of first place with two wins last week.

He registered a career- high 31 points in SBU’s 86- 84 win at Fort Hays State Wednesday night (Feb. 18). He scored 23 points in the second half against the Tigers, going 7- of- 10 from the field and 5- of- 7 from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes –  including a three with 1:11 left to give the Bearcats an 80- 75 lead.

Harris scored 16 points as one of six SBU players in double figures in a 98- 85 home win over Nebraska- Omaha Saturday, that extended the Bearcats’ home court winning streak to 29 games. Harris had 10 points in the second half after the ‘Cats stormed back after trailing by one at halftime.
