The 79 th high school wrestling state championships took place at Mizzou Arena this weekend. Team Champions in Class 4 were Park Hill, Class 3 Oak Park, Class 2 Kirksville, and Class 1 Whitfield.
Holt, who had won back to back titles in Class 3 finished 4th after moving to Class 4 this season. In Class 1, Whitfield was led by three-time champion and four-time medalist Ryan Mango (50-0), who won 14-11 over Mid-Buchanan’s Jake Rumpf at 130.
Eureka’s Matt Lester (57-0) broke the state record for victories in a season when he defeated Christian Wyatt of Jefferson City 7-0 for the Class 4 title at 160 pounds.
