Much has been said, of late, regarding the Quality Jobs program and its failure to deliver on the promised number of jobs. Be that as it may, the Quality Jobs program is being credited, to some degree, with luring several hundred jobs to southwest Missouri.

Governor Jay Nixon and legislative leaders are scheduled to be in Republic on Tuesday afternoon to announce what the Governor’s Office calls "a new economic development project." Senate sources tell the Missourinet that McClane, Incorporated – a Fortune 500 company providing food and related services to grocery stores, restaurants, and other customers – will announce a distributorship warehouse for Republic.

Construction will begin almost immediately, with the opening of the warehouse set for about a year from now. Once up and running, the operation will create approximately 400 jobs paying annual salaries of more than $32,000. Incentives under Quality Jobs were used in the effort to convince McClane to open its facility in Republic.
