Gary Pinkel at Mizzou's signing day

The first thing that jumps out at me when I look at this 2009 recruiting class for the Missouri Tigers is that 10 of the 25 recruits are from the state of Missouri.  Gary Pinkel brings it up all the time, there were some schools that wouldn’t even let him in to talk with their students.  (Click on his photo to watch highlights from Gary Pinkel’s recruiting press conference).

Tiger recruiting has gotten better, but it still has a long way to go and Pinkel is the first to admit it.  This year’s class ranked 35 th in the nation.  It’s the third straight year that Mizzou’s signing class has rated that high nationally.  Don’t take a lot of stock in those rankings.  For example, the class of Chase Daniel and Chase Coffman ranked 47 th in the country in 2005.

Gabe DeArmond of PowerMizzou.com shares his insights on this year’s class and we both agree on something.  Our gut tells us Chase Daniel won’t be drafted by an NFL team this April.
