The Kansas City Chiefs are in the market for a new coach. Herm Edwards has been fired after three seasons in a move that comes a week-and-a-half after new general manager Scott Pioli took over as Carl Peterson’s replacement.

A statement from Chiefs Chairman Clark Hunt says: "After careful deliberation over the last week, Scott and I decided that it was in the best interests of the Chiefs to move forward in a different direction. This was not an easy decision. Herm is an outstanding football coach and a man of integrity. We appreciate his leadership over the past three seasons, and we wish him all the best in the future."

Several reports in the Kansas City area say the Chiefs are interested in hiring former Denver Broncos Coach Mike Shanahan to take control of the team.
