The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services has confirmed that nine cases of salmonella have been confirmed in Missouri after victims consumed peanut-butter products.

Spokesman Brian Quinn tells the Missourinet it’s recommended consumers avoid consuming all peanut-butter products — cookies, crackers, etc. — but that jars of peanut butter are OK.

State and federal agencies are working together in this investigation to pinpoint when and where the salmonella contamination occurred.

Quinn says the Dept. of Agriculture and the Centers for Disease Control are posting updated lists on their Web sites regularly and urges Missourians to view all recalled products at FDA.gov and CDC.gov.
