The Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks shot 59.2-percent (29-49)
en route to a 76-65 victory over the Missouri Western Griffons in St.
Joseph, Mo. The Griffons fall to 6-6 on the season and to 3-3 in the
MIAA.

Western closed the first half on a 12-5 run in the last 8:36 of the
first half to cut the Maverick halftime lead to one at 31-30. In just
his second start of the season junior forward Quentin Noblin opened up
the game hitting his first three 3-point attempts to give the Griffons
the early 9-7 lead with 16:12 left in the half.

The Mavericks would go on a 9-0 run to take a 16-9 lead with 13:53 left
in the frame. The Mavericks would extend their lead to eight at 26-18
before the Griffons closed to one at the half. Noblin led Western with
nine points while the Griffons shot 39.3-percent (11-28) from the field
and 40-percent (4-10) from long range.

The Mavericks had two players in double figures in the first half with
Mitch Albers leading the way with 13 points and Dion Curry scoring 10.
UNO shot 52-percent (13-25) from the field and 37.5-percent (3-8) from
long range.

In the second half the two teams played to a 50-50 tie with 10:39 left
in the contest. Noblin opened the frame connecting on two more three
point shots as he finished the contest with a career high 19 points. The
Mavericks would close on 26-15 run to improve to 9-3 overall and 3-2 in
the MIAA.

Western just shot 39.2-percent (20-51) in the game and 36.8-percent
(7-19) from long range. The two teams each had 30 rebounds with the
Griffons getting 13 offensive rebounds to UNO’s seven. Both teams
turned the ball over 21 times with the Griffons getting 13 steals to the
Mavericks 9.

Dominique Thuston and James Bush finished the night with 16 and 11
points respectively.

The Mavericks were led by Albers with 19 points while Curry and Michael
Jenkins both had 16 points for UNO.

The Griffons will be in action on Wednesday, January 7 when they take
on the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats at 7:30 pm in Maryville, Mo.
