The conservation commission has pulled back from its proposals to change the ways it issues fishing, hunting and trapping permits. Adverse public reaction has led the commission to end consideration of a plan to require property owners to have at least 80 acres before they could get non-resident deer and turkey hunting permits. The present standard, which will remain, is a minimum of five acres.
The commission will retain those privileges for people who lease the land after considering ending that privilege.
The conservation commission also has decided not to increase resident permit fees.
