More than 75 percent of voters said yes to proposition B. That means more than 2 million Missourians voted to create a Missouri Quality Homecare Council, which could be in place this spring. The council will recruit and train home care workforce to serve under the Medicaid program.
"The next steps are really getting the council up and running," said Yes on B spokesman Krissi Jimroglou. "The council then needs to set up the state wide registry, start connecting consumers with workers, putting together a training program, so all the things that proposition B talked about."
In addition to getting the council set up, legislators should be thinking about how Missouri will prepare for the coming baby boom and the growing demand for long term care.
"I think the popularity of Proposition B is a clear signal to legislators that Missourians want to prioritize not just long term care, but home care," she said.
The Missourians for Quality Home Care coalition is now looking to help prepare the state’s long term care needs.
