Columbia, Missouri native Carl Edwards won for the ninth time on the Sprint Cup series with his win at Homestead. Jimmie Johnson finished 69 points ahead of Edwards for his third straight Sprint Cup title.
With this win in Miami, Edwards finished the season with the most Sprint Cup wins with 9, the most top 10 finishes with 27 of 36 races and the most top 5 finishes with 19!
What didn’t help Edwards was his back to back finishes of 29th at Talledega and 33rd at Charlotte early in the Chase.
The third title for Johnson ties Cale Yarborough. This was Edwards’ last race in for Office Depot and will ride for AFLAC next season.
