Election Day was difficult for Republicans across the country as they lost the White House and lost seats in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House.

Missouri Republican Party But Missouri Republicans might have dodged a bullet in that while they lost the Governor’s and the State Treasurer’s Offices and three seats in the Missouri House, they held onto Kenny Hulshof’s open Congressional seat, actually picked up three seats in the State Senate, and delivered the state for the McCain-Palin presidential ticket.

Missouri Republican Party Executive Director Jared Craighead says there is reason to be optimistic looking ahead to the 2010 elections and Senator Kit Bond’s reelection bid. Craighead says that while Missouri Republicans are invigorated with Tuesday’s outcome, Democrats should be demoralized because they put a lot of time, effort, and money into Missouri and could not deliver the state for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
