The Phillies are the World Series Champs, beating Tampa Bay 4-3 last night to take the series four games to one for the first time since 1980.  That year, they beat the Royals.

The fact the low payroll Rays made it this far gives Royals’ fans hope that their team can get back there soon.  The Royals are talking with the Marlins about acquiring Mike Jacobs, their 28 year old first basemen.  He hit 32 homer last year, but hit just .247.  The Marlins have interest in a relief pitcher, either Leo Nuñez or Ramon Ramirez.   Nuñez, 25, was 4-1 with a 2.98 ERA last season in 45 games. Ramirez, 27, was 3-2 and 2.64 in 71 games.

I think this would be a good move for the Royals.  They certainly lacked in power.  This would give the Royals another power bat with Jose Guillen.  It also gives them a young option at first base as it was quite obvious Ross Gload is not the long term option and there are still questions with Billy Butler’s defensive skills.
