Josh Brown kicked three field goals and Marc Bulger threw his longest touchdown pass in his career, but it wasn’t enough as the Rams lose in Foxboro, MA to the New England Patriots following a late touchdown pass from Matt Cassel to Kevin Faulk.

Cassel hit Faulk on a 15 yard pass to the back of the endzone that Faulk hauled in to give the Patriots the lead for good in a 23-16 win.

The Rams played without running back Stephen Jackson who couldn’t go after saying much of the week he’d be able to play with a right quad strain.  Defensive end Leonard Little left with a hamstring injury in the first half.

As far as Bulger, he connected with Donnie Avery on a 69 yard touchdown pass and finished 18 of 31 for 301 yards with that touchdown and a late interception at the end to seal the deal.

The Rams went up 16-13 early in the fourth quarter on a Josh Brown field goal from 25 yards out.  Stephen Gostkowski answered with his third FG midway through the fourth to tie the game, then after getting the ball back and getting sacked by rookie Chris Long, Cassel connected on a long pass to Randy Moss which helped set up a first down in Rams territory.

This is the first loss for the Rams under Jim Haslett who are now 2-1 under the new coach and 2-5 overall.
