Dick Vermeil with the late Georgia Frontierre and Kurt Warner The St. Louis Rams have announced that they will unveil Super Bowl Champion Dick Vermeil’s name in the Edward Jones Dome "Ring of Honor" at halftime of the November 2 game versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Vermeil, who began his NFL career as a Rams assistant coach in 1969, also served as a Rams assistant from 1971-1973 before becoming the head coach in 1997.  After a 5-11 season in 1997 and a 4-12 season in 1998, Vermeil drafted Torry Holt and acquired Trent Green, Marshall Faulk and Adam Timmerman to complement Isaac Bruce, Orlando Pace and other emerging players prior to the 1999 season.  Following a season-ending knee injury to Green, Vermeil turned to Kurt Warner to quarterback the team.  The result was one of the biggest single year turnarounds in NFL history as the Rams went 13-3 and captured the NFC West and NFC Championship titles, followed by a 23-16 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV.  Vermeil was named Coach of the Year and then retired from the Rams.

The halftime ceremony will feature a video tribute after which Vermeil’s name will be unveiled in the Edward Jones Dome "Ring of Honor."
