Bob Schembre, a 5’8 200 pound linebacker on the Westminster College football team from Fulton, Missouri is living his college football dream. The only difference between Bob and his teammates is about 30 years.
Schembre is 51 years old and got the idea about possibly playing college football after his two sons enrolled at Westminster. He’s a veteran of the United State Navy and has been a ministry for 25 years. He talked with his family, his pastor, and then finally needed to take the next big step.
Schembre was nervous, but went and talked with Blue Jay head coach John Welty who said he would give him a shot. Not only did Schembre get his shot, but last weekend in a win over Principia College, he made a tackle.
