Charges are pending against a 69-year-old woman arrested yesterday morning for shooting at a Missouri National Guard helicopter.

The helicopter was on a marijuana eradication mission in Douglas County. A National Guard solider and a state trooper were onboard the helicopter, said Highway Patrol Sergeant Marty Elmore. They were flying over a rural area near Vanzant when they heard at least one rifle shot and saw a muzzle flash.

A Missouri trooper on the ground found the woman, and said she admitted to shooting at the helicopter because it spooked her and she was scared. Prosecutor Christopher Wade’s office said he is still going over the report.
