Volunteers and members of AARP are gearing up for a train trek across Missouri tomorrow as they ride the rails from Kansas City to St. Louis.

Anita Parran with AARP Missouri says the purpose of what is being called the “Divided We Fail Express” is to raise awareness of the need for affordable health care and lifetime financial security. She says the two are linked and those running for public office this year must be aware of the concerns.

The journey begins at the Amtrak station in Lee’s Summit, near Kansas City, and ends at the Amtrak depot in St. Louis. In between, there is a stop at the Amtrak station in Jefferson City. Parran says if Democrats and Republicans can’t work together, nothing will be done to address health care and financial security problems.
