Republican Kenny Hulshof needs money to fund his fight against Democrat Jay Nixon for governor.

He’ll get help next week from President Bush. The president will visit the St. Louis area a day after the vice presidential debates at Washington University in St. Louis. Bush will attend Hulshof’s private fundraiser at Hunter Farms, an estate owned by Stephen and Kimmy Brauer. Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin debates her democratic rival, Joe Biden, Thursday night in St. Louis. Friday, the president comes to the city for the fundraiser.

Many public opinion polls indicate that Republican John McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama in Missouri. Some pundits have already placed Missouri in McCain’s column, while others keep Missouri as a toss up state. Hulshof, the winner of the Republican gubernatorial primary, has trailed Nixon from the beginning of the race. He lags behind Nixon in fundraising and hasn’t been able to compete with his rival on radio or television.
