This has been a difficult year for organizations that cater to the needs of the less fortunate and those who need a helping hand. The United Way is among the organizations feeling the pinch.

Theresa Versules, Vice President of United Way of Central Missouri, says the tough times are being felt by agencies under the United Way umbrella, but she says donations are coming in at a good pace. The current fundraising campaign runs through October 31st.

Because of the added need, United Way is offering emergency grants to some food pantries and other agencies, but it also asking those agencies to call on past contributions for help during this tough time.
