Mizzou Basketball jumped out to a 30-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and cruised to a 120-80 victory over the Ontario All-Stars Saturday afternoon in St. Catherines, Ontario.
The Tigers used a number of line-ups, including stints with five of the team’s seven newcomers in the game at the same time, as the club rolled to the 40-point win.
The Ontario All-Stars, a team comprised of former NCAA Division I and Canadian collegiate basketball players, were never in the game, as they fell behind 15-0 early and never recovered. The team led 62-36 at the half and 94-57 at the end of the third period.
DeMarre Carroll led Missouri with 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor, while fellow big man Justin Safford added 16. Safford was 7-of-10 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from three-point range.
Missouri also got great play from its highly-anticipated core of newcomers. Freshman guard Kim English knocked home 4-of-7 three-points en route to 12 points, Miguel Paul scored eight points and dished a game-high five assists and Zaire Taylor led all players with five steals.
For the game Missouri shot 58.3 percent from the floor (49-of-84) and 51.7 percent from three-point range (15-of-29). The team also dished 29 assists, with nine players dishing two or more dimes and forced 27 turnovers.
