For seven and a half innings it looked like the Cardinals would fold again to Milwaukee, but instead the offensive came to life in the eighth innings as Ryan Ludwick, Troy Glaus, Aaron Miles and Felipe Lopez drove in runs for a 5-3 win.

The comeback inning was highlighted by Troy Glaus dodging catcher Jason Kendall’s tag on a fielder’s-choice grounder by Aaron Miles to score the winning run, and Chris Perez allowed a double in the ninth, but struck out Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder to save the game.

The Cardinals salvaged a two-game split with Milwaukee, ended a seven-game losing streak against the Brewers and pulled back within 3 1/2 games of the National League Wild Card lead with 28 games left in the season.

Tony LaRussa, Ryan Ludwick, and Adam Wainwright who gave up three runs, two earned in six innings of work talk about the series and the win.
