The Humane Society of Missouri has never had anything like this. Society and law enforcement officials have taken 315 animals from an 80-acre property in southwest Missouri – more than 70 dogs, more than 35 cats, more than 50 rabbits, 60 fish, 40 exotic birds, and some horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, ducks and mice.

The Humane Society says the animals were living with inadequate water, food and shelter and in filthy conditions.

More than 100 of the animals have been taken to the Humane Society facilities in St. Louis. The horses and farm animals are being cared for at a rescue ranch near Union.
