Let’s get ready to rumble. The primaries are history and the Republican and Democratic contenders for Governor are now focused on their main opponents – each other.

Republican Kenny Hulshof earned his spot on the November ballot with a victory over Sarah Steelman in the GOP primary, while Democrat Jay Nixon only had token competition in the Democratic race. After a contentious Republican primary, can we expect nastiness in the general election?

Hulshof concedes his family feud with Steelman was a hard fought battle. Will the nastiness continue? "It depends on your definition of nastiness," says Hulshof. "I don’t think it’s going to be as personal, perhaps."

Democrat Jay Nixon isn’t so sure. "This guy ran a negative ad against me – against me," says Nixon. "I wasn’t on the ballot against him in the primary. He ran against me. He put my picture up on the page, so I don’t know what they’re gonna do now."
