State Representative Scott Muschany (R-Frontenac) is free on bond after being charged in Jefferson City with sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl.
Officials at the Cole County jail say he was booked yesterday afternoon and released about a half hour later $5,000 bond, posted by a Jefferson City bonding company.
Muschany surprised many colleagues in May by announcing he would not run for re-election because he wanted to spend more time with his wife and two children.
A Cole County Grand jury indictment says that’s about the time the state child abuse hotline got a call and alerted police.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says the girl’s mother was romantically involved with Muschany.
