The  Missouri State Fair  begins it’s 106 th  annual run today in Sedalia. The fair is best known for it’s showcase of Missouri Agriculture, but this year fair director Marion Lucas said there’s something for everyone whether you like carnival rides or extreme entertainment.

"I think all that will be something to entice families to come and hopefully they’ll watch their younger kids enjoy the fair," he said.

Many Missourians look forward fair all year just like the state fair employees, Lucas said.

"We always look forward to it," he said. "I think if you’ve been around it as long as I have that seems like that’s been most all my life that every year offers a little bit different challenge and every year’s a little bit more exciting."

The fair is trying to compensate for tighter budgets by offering several discount days.
