State Treasurer Sarah Steelman has conceded the Republican gubernatorial primary to northeast Missouri Congressman Kenny Hulshof. With nearly all the precincts reporting, Hulshof has slightly more than 50% of the vote with 50,526 votes. Steelman has just over 43% of the vote; 43,350 votes.

Steelman entered a Jefferson City restaurant where her campaign held its watch party around 11pm. She thanked her staff and her family, said she had made the call to concede to Hulshof and stated that her campaign had given Republicans a choice and that that was good for the state.

Her concession speech was brief. She took no questions and, after hugging her parents, left without speaking to reporters.
