The food you see at the farmer’s market might end up on your plate the next time you go out to eat, according to the State Department of Agriculture.
Restaurant goers are starting to demand menu items featuring products available at the market, said Marketing Specialist, Lane McConnell.
"Lot of chefs are seeing the value of buying local produce," she said. "Mainly because of the consumer demand and the freshness and the different taste that you get from buying produce that is locally and is you know picked within 24 hours."
It’s now easier for the average Missourian and chefs to buy from the farmers’ market because markets across the state are now accepting debit cards and electronic food stamps.
