Former MU basketball coach Norm Stewart , underwent open-heart surgery last Friday for an aortic valve replacement , and is recovering and could be released from Boone County Hospital by Friday.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch , through his wife Virginia, he was experiencing difficulty with his breathing and needed to have the surgery right away.
Stewart had a pacemaker installed last year and the family thought his troubles may have been related.
