Esteban German’s two-run double in the eighth inning gave the Royals an 8-7 win on Sunday over the Chicago White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.  This is the Royals first series win in Chicago since September of 2003 when they took two out of three.

Jose Guillen, pinch-hitting for Alex Gordon, was hit by former Royals’ pitcher Octavio Dotel.  Guillen, stole second base and then Matt Thornton relieved Dotel who proceeded to walk Ross Gload. German followed with the double that was the difference.

The Royals were up 5-2 when Brian Bannister gave up a two out three run homer to Westphalia, MO native Joe Crede.  Bannister’s day would end after just three innings.

Ramon Ramirez who would pitch 2.2 innings, but give up two runs to give the Sox a 7-6 lead would pick up the win.  Ron Mahay pitched a scoreless 8 th and Joaking Soria picked up his 26 th save.
