Gil Meche pitched into the seventh inning silencing the big bats of Chicago as the Royals pounded out nine runs including a six run eighth to win 9-1 on Saturday.  Three Royals’ had three RBI to lead the way.

Meche was solid as he went 6.1 innings giving up just one run on two hits, a walk, while striking out six.  Meche moves to 7-9 on the year.

The Royals took at 3-0 lead in the fifth in part to John Buck’s two run homer, his sixth of the year.  With the score 3-1 in the eighth, the Royals pounded Sox reliever Nick Masset after he replaced Boone Logan who gave up a single to David DeJesus.  Masset gave up a two run homer to Billy Butler the first batter he faced.  Then Mark Grudzielanek singled and Alex Gordon drew a walk.  John Buck then drove in his third run of the game with a single and Mike Aviles drove in three with a bases clearing double.
