Nearly 15 years after the brutal murder of a woman in Southeast Missouri, her killer received his sentence.

Glenn Moore, 30, of Hayti will spend the next 20 years in prison for stabbing Cynthia Banks to death in February of 1993. Moore was just 15 years old at the time of the crime.

Pemiscot County prosecuting attorney Michael Hazel said this was a brutal crime that remained unsolved until an anonymous tip reopened the case in 2006.

"The victim was stabbed 28 times," he said. "The knife was left in her back. She was struck in the head with a blunt instrument at least 8 times. Her throat was slashed and she had various defensive wounds to her upper body."

Hazel said it was a videotaped confession recorded secretively in a vehicle by a witness that that implicated Moore in the murder.

A change of venue moved the case from Pemiscot County to Benton.
