Chase Daniel

Just a day after the Missouri Tiger football team was voted the favorite to win the Big 12 north, the league announced this morning that QB Chase Daniel was named Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year as voted on by the media of the Big 12.

Auston English of the Sooners (Oklahoma) was selected Preseason Defensive Player of the Year in a Big 12 Conference media poll.

Last year, Daniel won the 2007 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and Big 12 male Athlete of the Year awards.  Six other Tigers made the All Big 12 list including tight end Chase Coffman and Jeremy Maclin as wide receiver and kick returner.  LB Sean Weatherspoon and  S William Moore highlight the Tigers on defense.  Even Jeff Wolfert gets in for special teams.

With Missouri’s six players filling in seven spots, the Tigers grab the bragging rights for having the most players named to the All Big 12 team .
