St. Louis dispatched of the Pirates fairly easily, relying on another strong start from pitcher Kyle Lohse in the club’s 6-0 victory last night.

Lohse shut-out Pittsburgh for seven innings, before handing the ball to rookie prospect Jaime Garcia for mop-up duty.  Garcia was called up earlier this week when starter Mark Mulder was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

The offense was anchored by Rick Ankiel, who homered and drove in three runs in the win.  His three hits on the night raise his season batting average to .269.

The three through six hitters in the Redbirds lineup combined for 10 of the 13 St. Louis hits on the night.
