The Royals let one slip away in what White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen called a "real bad" game losing in 13 innings to the White Sox 8-7.

The Royals had a 5-3 lead in the 8 th .  Ron Mahay trying to get out of a jam, gave up a single and sac fly to let the Sox tie the game at five.  Then the Sox grabbed the lead on a weird play in the top of the 11 th .  With the bases loaded and one out, Sox catcher AJ Pierzynski hit a flyball to right center where Joey Gathright made the catch but collided with Mark Teahan, falling on the warning track and allowing two runs score on the sac fly.

In the bottom of the 11 th , the Royals rallied with two outs on a single by Mike Aviles and double by Alex Gordon to tie the game at seven.  The Sox went up 8-7 in the 13 th , on a hit and run double.  The Royals tried to make one more comeback.  Mark Grudzielanek, pinched hit with the bases loaded and one out, but grounded  into a double play.
