Down to the Giants, 10-3 after 5 ½ innings, the Royals rally to beat San Francisco 11-10.  The Royals comeback was sparked by a five run sixth inning.

This was Kyle Davies’ first bad outing of the season, getting tagged for seven earned runs in just an inning and a third of work. The bullpen also struggled until the two Mr. Reliables, Ron Mahay, two scoreless innings, and Joakim Soria (20 th save) came in to hold onto the win.

The Royals made their  comeback after trailing 6-0 and 10-3 with phenom Tim Lincecum on the mound. But Lincecum was lifted after throwing 109 pitches through five innings.  That’s when the bullpen for San Francisco wilted as the Royals scored five in the sixth including a big two run double by Mike Aviles.

The Royals capped the comeback when Joey Gathright singled in the winning run in the 7th off Alex Hinshaw after Alberto Callaspo had reached on an error and David DeJesus walked.

The Royals took two of three to win their fourth consecutive Interleague series.  The Royals are now 9-3 against NL teams.
