Flooding As some Missouri communities cope with Mississippi River flooding, others are dealing with the aftermath of the flooding, and state health officials want people in flood zones to take precautions.

State Health Director Jane Drummond says anyone working in floodwaters or in the areas in which the floodwaters have been would be advised to have a tetanus shot. Drummond says the tetanus shot not only protects against germs carried by the floodwaters, but against the infection that can result from such things as stepping on rusty nails.

Drummond says there should be a plentiful supply of tetanus vaccine at local health agencies.
