The Royals offense started Friday’s game hot, but quickly fell like a lead balloon.  Just four of Kansas City’s 14 hits came after the third inning of a 9-4 loss to the Giants.

The pitching staff was not quite up to snuff, either.  Starter Luke Hochevar lasted just four and two-third innings, and the Royals bullpen was not much better.  All three relievers KC brought in gave up at least one run, including the struggling Yasuhiko Yabuta (1-3), who was charged with the loss.
