Jason Isringhausen will return to Busch Stadium today to pitch in front of Cardinals management. If that goes well, he could be activated from the DL this weekend.
Isringhausen could be inserted back into the bullpen when the Cardinals host Philadelphia and he could come back as the closer. Isringhausen last worked on Wednesday down in Springfield where he threw an inning and two thirds scoreless ball.
Izzy may have been physically and emotionally drained following a 1-5 record in 21 appearances with just 11 saves in 17 opportunities and an ERA of 8.00.
His last outing in the bigs, came May 15 th , when he pitched a third of an inning giving up three runs on two hits and two walks in a loss to Pittsburgh.
