She couldn’t travel the three-and-a-half hours from St. Louis to Galesburg, Illinois, to attend Knox College graduation ceremonies. So, Knox College President Roger Taylor traveled to Florissant to bring graduation to Jessica Platt.

Taylor put on the college regalia and led a small procession at the Lutheran Church of the Atonement in Florissant to, in his words, finish the 163rd commencement of Knox College.

Platt couldn’t attend the campus ceremony due to brain surgery to remove an abnormal number of blood vessels on her brain, discovered when she suffered acute headaches, seizures and a stroke. The 20-year-old from Hazelwood only recently got out of the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
