The Cardinals could be without Todd Wellemeyer’s services for a time.

The Redbirds starting pitcher was in St. Louis last night, getting checked out by team doctors due to soreness near his right biceps.  He had an MRI, which did not reveal any structural damage to his elbow, but manager Tony La Russa was uncertain whether the right-hander would make his next scheduled start on Tuesday.  As a precaution, the Cards sent down Mike Parisi and promoted pitcher Mitchell Boggs from Memphis.
