Central Missouri’s Danny Potje gave up 11 hits but only one run as the Mulse beat Shippensburg 5-1 in an elimination game Wednesday in the NCAA Division II championships at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill.
This win coming just a day and a half after the Mules’ 19 inning marathon loss to Sonoma State.
Potje, 9-2, struck out eight and walked three in his 138-pitch, complete-game effort.
Shortstop Brian McBryde went 3 for 5 with an RBI. Left fielder Will Fell was 2 for 4 with his third home run of the year.
The Mules play Mount Olive, the number one team in D-II baseball with a 56-6 record.
