Legislation providing $240-million in tax-credits to lure an airplane manufacturer to Kansas City International Airport has been signed by Governor Matt Blunt (R-MO).

House Bill 2393 would provide the tax credits over eight years to Bombardier Aerospace of Montreal.  It is hoped the $400-million assembly plant would create 2,100 jobs paying an average of $63,000 a year. Bombardier expects to make a decision no later than January.

The announcement that the Governor had signed the bill came not from the Governor’s Office, but from Lieutenant Governor Peter Kinder (R-MO) who released a statement in which he lauded Governor Blunt for signing the legislation and praised the Legislature "for creating an economic development package that will help bolster Missouri’s competitive edge to create quality jobs in our state."
