Tyler Johnson underwent shoulder surgery yesterday.  He’s out a minimum six months.  Mark Mulder threw a bullpen session and felt good.  He will throw again today.  Another minor league rehab start could be coming soon.

Johnson had arthroscopic surgery with debridement of scar tissue in his left shoulder today.  The surgery was performed by Dr Neal El Attrache in Los Angeles, Ca.  Tyler’s anticipated recovery time will be a minimum of six months.

Mulder feeling better Mulder will throw another bullpen session today.  Mulder made five rehab starts in the minors, but was shut down with a rotator cuff strain.  He basically was overworking himself and needed rest.  After his first bullpen session on Wednesday, he told stlcardinals.com that he felt good after the session.

Former CF Jim Edmonds, who was signed and waived by San Diego, signed with the Cubs yesterday and will start in their game this afternoon against Greg Maddux, his teammate for 26 games with the Padres.  The 37 year old outfielder was hitting .178 in 90 AB.  The Cubs are hoping the guy the Red Birds gave up on has something left in the tank.
