5-13_Musial.jpg May 13, 1958.  Stan Musial lined a double off of Chicago Cubs pitcher Moe Drabowsky into the left field corner of Wrigley Field for his 3,000th hit.  Fifty years ago, Musial became the only member of the 3,000-hit club to have reached the milestone as a pinch-hitter.

Robert Falkoff of mlb.com has a great story on Stan The Man as he relives this day.  He shares a great description of the play-by-play from the late Harry Caray.
