Sophomore Kyle Gibson recorded his second seven-inning complete game on the year as No. 14 Missouri picked up a 12-1 win over Kansas in game two of a doubleheader on Sunday.
Gibson struck out eight, allowing just one run on five hits and moves to 8-1 on the year. He also picked up the save in Friday’s series opener.
At the plate, sophomore Trevor Coleman matched his career high in hits, runs scored and RBI, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored in the finale.
After hitting his 12th home run of the season in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader, sophomore Aaron Senne hit number 13 in the first inning of game two, giving Mizzou the early 1-0 lead.
The Tigers then put together a three-run second inning, getting an RBI single from junior Kyle Mach and a bases loaded walks by sophomore Greg Folgia and Senne. Coleman led off the top of the third inning by connecting on his third home run of the season to make it a five-run advantage for MU.
Gibson was perfect through the first 3.2 innings, before John Allman doubled in the fourth. He later scored the Jayhawks lone run on double by Ryne Price.
Kansas took game one of Sunday’s doubleheader, 7-6.
