Northwest Missouri State senior pitcher Kelly Morris broke the program’s single-season strikeout record during an 8-1 loss to Nebraska-Omaha Friday night in an elimination game at the NCAA North Central Regional Championships.

Morris entered the contest in the second inning and struck out four to up her season total to 147, three more than the total posted by Jennifer Spencer in 1995.

Morris finished her three-year career at Northwest with 320 strikeouts – the most by any pitcher in Bearcat history. Her 41 career wins are the third-most in program history.

The Bearcats (32-22) finish their 2008 campaign after totaling the fourth-most victories in team history and after making the program’s fourth NCAA tournament appearance.
